Breakfast in France, and other thoughts

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong?  I know, we all do. Recently I went to the Dr. not feeling really great, expecting the usual, "we can't find anything let us know if it gets worse."  Instead I got," think you had better go off wheat and gluten." I really didn't want to hear that, seeing as I happen to love carbs! Suddenly all I could do was think of everything I couldn't eat! Which led me to reflections of breakfast in France! Oh how I loved the croissants, and fresh bread every morning with a pot of steaming milk to make cafe au lait. After mourning my loss for a week, which accounts for not posting, I decided if I can't eat it I can paint it! I think I will be able to find quite a few things to paint. Let me know what you think. Before I go I just wanted to mention Leslie Saeta and Dream Tolle Perry's Artists Helping Artists blog. It is so fantastic and they are so generous and giving of advice.

  1. Cissy, It's wonderful that you can look at something this delicious and paint it knowing you can't eat it when you are done. I admire your will power!

Lovely colors and beautiful job on the reflections! That jam looks especially appetizing...would it be strawberry?

  2. Thanks Carol, good to hear from you. Yes that is strawberry jam. I am looking forward to painting some more food items! Right now I am exploring alternative flours and recipes.

  3. Well, this just means more candy for you! On a more serious note, I'm really sorry you're now carb-free. It seems as though you're quite inventive however, and I bet you will think of many ways to make the very best of it.
Your vibrant little painting makes me want a croissant too with strawberry jam, of course.

  4. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment, Shirley. I really love hearing from people, that way you know if you are reaching people, and what they think. I have been having trouble posting answers so I hope this reaches you. Yes, I am able to solve some of the snack problems. I have found several good cook books, and there are a lot of gluten free products out there.

  6. Beautiful work. Too bad about the gluten. I'm off the stuff, too. I do feel better, I must say. Helps my painting, I like to say.
